PAMELA EVE ISLEY
Nicknames: Poison, Ivy, Ive
Alias[es]: Poison Ivy
Age: 23
Physical Appearance:
The first thing that people notice about Pamela is her head of fiery red hair that shines like a ruby in the sun and glows like crimson blood in the moonlight. It is quite long, reached her mid back, and is naturally curly, but on occasions, Pamela will straighten it for a sleek and sexy look. Her skin is very pale, and almost porcelain like. If you were to touch it it would be as soft as silk, thanks to the completely natural treatments she uses on it using ingredients from various Amazonian plants. Pamela is also in the possession of two brilliant emerald colored eyes, they literally glitter, and can paralyze a man with a simple look. Her lips are round, red and full, and are usually pursed in thought, or curved in a condescending smirk.
Pamela's wardrobe consists of all things green, you see, she loves the color green. Any shade, any variation, and any form of it. She also like the color red so she makes a habit of slashing her lips with a crimson lipstick. Her wardrobe is usually casual, a pair of green pants, a forest green tunic, an emerald cardigan, a pair of green strappy high heels, all accented with emerald jewelry. But Ivy isn't always casual, no, sometimes she must be alluring to get what she wants out of people. When she is about and about, making chaos or on a mission, she dresses up a little bit, with an emerald green kimono dress, black and gold stilettos and the same green jewelry and make up. After all, a girl needs to impress, even when she hates most of the people she sees.
Distinguishing Marks:
Has a tattoo of a vine of poison ivy starting from the nape of her neck, and running down to her lower back.
Played By: Scarlett Johansson
Strengths:
BOTANY. Pamela is a very gifted and skilled botanist, having studied plants and earth all across the world from the Amazon, to the bamboo forests of China. She knows how plants operate and work, how they reproduce, and what kinds of chemicals are in each. She also knows what kind of attributes and uses plants have, such as what kind of poisons can be made from them, and what kind of substances can be extracted from them i.e. Aloe.
INTELLIGENCE. Pamela has studied botany and the environment at several of the major universities across the globe, and aside from her knowledge of plants, Pamela possess extreme intelligence, problem solving skills, and interpretive skills. She excels at mathematics, and can remember the dates of almost every war that occurred in human time. These skills come in handy when out smarting her enemies who almost always underestimate her.
CHEMISTRY. To go along with her excellence in Botany is Pamela's skills as a chemist. After all, a biochemical terrorist needs to know how to synthesize and create various chemical gases or liquids from the plants she so desperately loves. She uses this skill to create powerful poisons and gases she uses when creating chaos, and to back up her demands.
Weaknesses:
Fire. She hates it. Fire alone has the power to power to kill nature's plants. Floods may drown them, and humans may uproot them, but fire has the power to scorch them from existence.
Anti-poisons. Since Ivy uses biochemicals to produced deadly poison, antidotes for her various concoctions can be made rather quickly. There have been several incidences before that professionally trained Gotham Scientists have come up with antidotes and even anti-poisons that have been actively sold within Gotham, just in case Pamela decided to attack a major public area again.
Good looking men. What woman doesn't have a weakness for a handsome man? Pamela even thinks that the Batman is handsome, even if all she can see is a mask.
Personality Traits:
Narcissistic. Pamela is a very vain and self-loving person. She cares much about her appearance, and thinks she is absolutely flawless. She also thinks that the work she does is my most important work on the planet. She only cares about her aims and goals, and no one else.
God-Complex. Pamela fancies herself a living and breathing Mother Natures. She alone is the guardian and queen of the planet, and she dares anyone to disagree with her on that.
Seductive. Pamela isn't an idiot. Even with her holier-than-thou attitude, she knows that she may need to seduce and flirt to get the things she wants. There is nothing that can not be done when one flaunts a little skin and pouts their lips, and Pamela does it more often then not. Though she can get a little scary if her tricks are not working. Pamela has also been known to use flower pheromones that are naturally alluring to men.
Secret(s/)Motive(s): Pamela wishes for the race of humans, as well as all other mammals to bow down to the might and marvel of the plant kingdom. Nature is the mother of life, and the human race poisons her, and sooner or later, life will not be able to continue if drastic actions are not taken, and Pamela is perfectly fine with taking those drastic actions. Another secret, Pamela's ultimate weapon is that she possess a set of lipsticks that are infused with various plant chemicals and toxins which do different things. The toxins within these lipsticks do not effect Pamela because she alone possess the antidotes for them, all of which are flowing through her blood stream, making her immune.
Red: The poison lipstick. This lipstick, when in contact with an enemy's skin injects a high dosage of toxic venom that instantly enters the bloodstream. The venom puts the victim under great amounts of pain, and an antidote must be injected within three minutes of contact or they will die.
Purple: The truth lipstick. This lipstick acts much like anesthetic, meaning that it puts the victim under an extreme state of drowsiness, allowing for someone to ask them a question and they are too 'high' to tell a lie, they will just come out with it.
Pink: The 'mind control' lipstick. OK, it's not REAL mind control, but it is the closest to it one can get. It acts very much like the truth lipstick, putting the victim in a heightened state of drowsiness, and when asked to do something, the victim's brain can not distinguish whether it should or should not do it, they just comply with the request. The downside is that this lipstick does not work 100% of the time, it only has a 63% chance of success, which makes using it a gamble.
Gold: The paralyzing lipstick. Just like it's name, this lipstick puts the victim under a state or paralysis, locking their motor functions and movement. Pamela uses this when she does not wish to kill the victim, but just immobilize them. However, after a period of 30 minutes the toxin dissolves within the victim and they are able to move again. The only side effect is that the victim's limbs will be numb.
Family Members: Mother and father, Samuel and Morrigan Isley are both deceased.
Partners: Pamela has taken in a group of extreme environmentalists that work as her henchmen. Each has a poison icy leaf tattooed on their forearms. Pamela has also been known to work with other villains, such as the Joker and his slave/girlfriend Harley Quinn. Pamela and Harley have developed a sort of bond, and Harley is one of the few people she respects and genuinely cares for.
History:
Pamela Eve Isley started her life as the daughter of Morrigan and Samuel Isley, two Botanists that travelled the globe in search of new and rare species of plants. They trekked through the Amazon and climbed hiked through China’s bamboo forests. They ventured through the Hawaiian Islands, and fought through the yellow brush of Africa, all in search of treasure Mother Nature had hidden away from the world, but desperately wanted someone to find. Morrigan Dianne Isley was a beautiful woman with high cheek bones and brilliant red hair who was one of Harvard’s leading biochemists. Her father Samuel James Isley was also quite handsome, even with his glasses, freckles and curly head of red hair, and he, like his wife, was another of Harvard’s most notable students, except he was purely a Botanist. Together they travelled far and wide, sometimes with their beloved daughter, Pamela at their side. It was on these trips that Pamela developed her love for the natural world. She found solace and comfort among plants, her parents telling her they her Mother Nature’s most beautiful and important creations. “Everything revolves around plants, Pamela. Everything green unselfishly gives life to the rest of the world. Filling our lungs with air, giving our bodies nourishment, and surrounding us with beauty”. That’s what her mother always used to say when she watched her parents work. Because of their travelling lifestyle, Pamela was homeschooled, and it was because of this that she sped through school, eventually attending and graduating Harvard, with a BA in Biochemistry. A week after graduation however, her parents were found dead in their research tent while on location in Africa. The autopsy report stated that a plant toxin has escaped from a shattered beaker and instantly killed Isley and his wife.
Though, not everything about their deaths was tragic, because it turns out that the Isley name was highly regarded in the Botany community, which helped Pamela secure a job working in the Amazon at a lab owned and operated by Wayne Enterprises. Excited and ready t get to work, Pamela was on a plane to Brazil the very next weekend. Once she got there, she was greeted with open arms by all the other scientists at Wayne Labs, especially Henri Von Erich, the head researcher. Henri took Pamela under his wing, teaching her all he knew. With Von Erich’s guidance, Pamela excelled in her field, making a couple breakthroughs in bio-chemistry that were written about across the world. Pamela had the perfect life and the perfect career, she couldn’t be happier. Then, one very dark night while Pamela was working in the labs, she came across evidence that suggested that Henri Von Erich and Wayne enterprises were using their research to make billions of dollars in profit, and those billions were being used to fund some of the largest pollution producing companies. Big oil, military, manufacturing, it was all there. It was then that Henri discovered her looking through the files and grew horribly angry. In his rage, Henri attempted to kill Pamela, but at the last moment, Pamela injected Henri with a very potent plant venom. It was then that something snapped inside Pamela, a desire to save the planet, and a hate for pollution and the Human race that abused mother earth swelled up inside her. Thus, Poison Ivy was born, sprung from the flames of the burning Wayne Laboratories, on her way to Gotham to confront the figure head of Wayne Enterprises, Bruce Wayne.
Once she reached Gotham she confronted Bruce Wayne during a press briefing, revealing to all reporters present, that Wayne Enterprises was responsible for most of the earth’s pollution. Bruce Wayne, always the cocky and cool bachelor, retorted with a reply that made all the reporters there laugh in her face. Scorned and embarrassed, Pamela left the briefing with revenge in her mind. It was then that Pamela found an old green house on the outskirts of town, hidden in the forest on the west side of Gotham. There she started her work, recruiting a small group of environmental extremists that had been shocked and outraged by the things Pamela had said on television. They agreed and embraced Pamela’s ideals for the world, that Mother Nature should reign supreme. It was that night that Poison Ivy and her henchmen broke into Wayne Enterprises, stealing millions in laboratory supplies and equipment. With the necessary tools in hand Pamela start planning her first attack on Gotham, developing a paralyzing gas that she would eventually unleash on the entire Gotham underground railway. The attack was successful and hundreds of civilians were paralyzed in their places. Every TV then turned to a propaganda film Pamela had made, stressing the preservation of nature, and demanding that major changes in Gotham be carried out, or a deadlier attack was imminent, this time at numerous children’s hospitals. “If you don’t stop killing Mother Nature’s children, I will just have to kill a few of yours.” The attack was almost about to happen, but Gotham City’s masked vigilante, Batman captured Poison Ivy neat PS 1-18. Pamela was then sent to Arkham Asylum, and there she met Harley Quinn. The two of them developed a sudden friendship and eventually broke out of the asylum together.
Since her first imprisonment, Poison Ivy has been responsible for several bio-chemical terrorist attacks, and has been in and out of Arkham many times. She is now at large, and considered a very dangerous Gotham villain. Who knows what she may be planning next?
