THE FREAKIN' JOKER!
Nicknames: 'Mr. J' or,
Alias[es]: For crime, it's 'The Clown Prince of Crime', 'the Clown' or 'Red Hood', but to blend in he prefers 'Joseph "Joe" Kerr' or 'Mr. Rekoj'. Yeah, he doesn't blend in well.
Age: Bwaha, even he's forgotten - pick a number! Somewhere between between 27 and 32...29, perhaps?
Physical Appearance:
Jokesie doesn't have a whole lot of mirrors around, but he likes to look nice anyway. More often than not, our Clown can be seen in one of his trademark purple suits which he makes himself when he's not killing or breaking out of Arkham. For that reason, they fit him perfectly, hugging his shoulders and then loosening out to flap atmospherically around his legs. The Joker's very fond of that suit actually - it's brilliant for hiding knives in and, well, purple is just a fun colour. We like purple. Anyway, he's gotten better at making clothes over the years, and makes quite a few things to wear now, so you can't trace his clothes to a shop or anything. That which isn't handmade is stolen before it even reaches the shelves so you could say he wears the very latest in criminal fashion! What fun! And you'll never find even the slightest hint of a label because the biggest and bestest label you could find is right on his head - his face!
That face. It's been the face of many a child's - and adult's - nightmare. The very personification of evil. Well, he's not quite that bad...I don't think. Though his face most definitely is. Once, it was normal - blond hair, brown eyes and a more innocent, happy smile - but those days are long gone. Now, the Jokah sports a twisted version of BoBo the Happy Clown wherever he goes. His already pale skin is turned ghost-white while the bags under his eyes have been transformed to the hollow, blackened eye sockets of a skull. And his mouth? Whether it's through his father's blade or his own, his mouth is not eternally fixed in that perpetual trademark smile. Smile, of course, is not quite the word; 'manic grin' comes closer, though humanity has so far failed to find the perfect phrase. Knotted scars disfigure his cheeks in that delightful way, and are always decorated with a half-hazard smear of a blood-red mockery of lipstick. Perfect in his opinion - freaky as hell in everyone else's.
Distinguishing Marks:
I do believe the Joker is one big distinguishing mark. From the clown-gone-wrong make-up to the everlasting smile to the manic cackle, it's very hard to mistake the Joker for someone else. Even without his make-up the scars stand out quite a bit, but that's fine. Who'd want to be normal anyway?
Played By: The beautiful Heath Ledger, of course!
Strengths:
Intelligence - The Joker is a genius, to put it frankly. He's evaded capture for the most heinous of crimes and even when he does get caught everyone knows it's only a matter of time before he gets out again. Trying to catch the Joker is like trying to catch smoke, only smoke isn't a homicidal psychopath to boot. Whatever the situation, the Joker can usually come up with a plan to cause as much 'fun' as possible - in Batman's own words, they 'make sense only to him'.
Madness - Whether you agree with the in-sane or super-sane theory, it is indisputable that the Joker is three shades of crazy. This utter disregard for normality and morals make him both very dangerous and very successful. He's impulsive, a lover of detail and illogical. Then again, he's also a planner, enjoys the simple thrill of a kill, and some of what he says is scarily close to sense. The man is a walking contradiction - and the only thing you can really predict is that he'll do something unpredictable.
Mechanical/Scientific Skills - Perhaps there is some truth to the theories that the Joker was an engineer or a chemist before he turned insane because the man certainly knows his way around both machines and the periodic table, it seems. He can manipulate all manner of devices (particularly explosives) to do his evil bidding and as for the chemistry part - well, one sniff of the infamous 'Joker Venom' and you'll be laughing your way to an early grave.
Immortality - Of course, biologically speaking, the Joker is human. He can be killed by bullet or bang just like anyone else. Only he never really seems to die. It kinda adds basis to the rumour that hell won't take him. I'm not saying he's invincible, but the fact remains that he's been in more explosions, shoot-outs, car accidents, droppings from lethal heights and poisonings than the rest of us have had hot dinners, and he's still standing.
